How these insights work
Food Cost % Alert
Compares daily and MTD expenses to sales revenue. Fires when food cost % crosses 30% (warning) or 40% (critical). Target is set at 30% for fine dining.
Category Spike Detection
For each expense category, calculates the 28-day rolling average and standard deviation. Flags any day where a category is 2+ standard deviations above normal (z-score ≥ 2.0).
Duplicate Expense Check
Scans the last 3 days for identical (category, amount) pairs on different dates. Flags potential double-entry before it compounds.
Sales Drop vs Last Week
Compares each day's sales to the same day-of-week from the previous week. Alerts when the drop exceeds 25%.
Unpaid Expense Age
Tracks expense lines where paid < total. Alerts when unpaid balances are more than 7 days old, with severity based on total amount outstanding.
Month-End Projection
Extrapolates the rest of the month using the current daily average for sales and expenses. Shows projected net and food cost % before the month closes.
